How to setup Netbeans for Android Development

Hello everyone, now i will share to you how to setup netbeans for android development.

And yeah, before we starting it, firstly you have to download netbeans version 10 or above, because netbeans under version 10 not supported for development android. you can download it form 

• Netbeans 10.0, (tutorial for installing Netbeans 10.0, click me) 
• Netbeans 11.0 
• Coolbeans 2018.12.2

After that, you must be download new version JDK, because older version like JDK 7 & JDK 8 not supported, in this case i using openJDK 11 from this link

• OpenJDK 11

if you using Linux OS, you can seeing this article how to installing new version OpenJDK on your OS, click me...

I assume you have download it, now open your folder bin/

In this folder, there are 3 file, 

1. netbeans, for Linux OS
2. netbeans.exe for Windows OS 32 bit
3. netbeans64.exe for Windows OS 64 bit

if you using Linux OS, double click "netbeans" and click run as this pict below

Click menu Tools->Plugins

Open tab Settings, then click add

Insert it to get update system for development 

http://server.arsi.sk/nbandroid_loader/updates.xml

Name up to you, or write as that, then OK

After that, click tab Available Plugins, click button Check for Newest if plugin NBANDROID Loader not showing

check NBAndroid-AutoUpdate-Updater and Install.

Installing plugin NBAndroid-AutoUpdate-Updater, click Next

Click Finish and Netbeans will be restarting

Then, go to tab Available Plugins again, and you will see like it

then click Install

Click Next

Check "i accept the terms in all of the license aggreements" and Install

Wait until process downloading and installing finish

Then, click Continue

After that, choose Restart IDE Now and click Finish..

Installing Android SDK

To creating an android application, we must have an Android SDK. If you already have an Android SDK, only adding path of Android SDK 

If not have Android SDK, Netbeans can download it.

Please click menu Tools -> Android SDKs

Click Add SDK

In this page, there are 2 choises :

1. Add an existing Android SDK, to add your SDK that is already on your computer
2. Download and Install Android SDK, to download new android SDK

if you choose Download and Install Android SDK, you will be asked to download Android SDK and click Download

If you choose Add an existing Android SDK, you will be asked to set specifiy path of Android SDK

(If you have installed Android Studio, you can use that SDK)

Click Finish

And will show up as this, then Close

Last Step 😃

Create a project Android in Netbeans

Go to menu File -> New Project

Then, choose Android -> Android Project -> Next

Following this inputs

After that, set up minimum SDK that will be use

Specify the type of activity used, choose Basic Activity and Next 

Just let the name default as this

And Android Project has been created....

If this the first your project, Netbeans will be download Gradle Wrapper

After finish, do Clean and Build to download some library needed

After that, we can open MainActivity.java and create other source file in your project...

 

Oke in my review, when i use Android Studio & opening Chromium Browser, usage RAM until 70-75% in Linux OS

But, when i use Netbeans v10 for create Android project & opening Chromium Browser, usage RAM just 40-60% in processor intel pentium CPU B940

So this is can be alternative beside using Android Studio for development Android Project
